KASAPA Udupi taluk literary meet scheduled today

The Udupi Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KASAPA) will hold its taluk-level literary conference on May 3 ( today) at the YAKSHAGANA Kalaranga IYC auditorium, featuring a day-long programme of cultural and literary events, according to organisers.

The conference, themed “Bhishmotsava”, will be presided over by senior artist Dr. Bhaskarananda Kumar. The event will begin at 8:30 am with a procession from Sharada Mantapa followed by flag hoisting.

The inauguration will be at 10 am by Dr. Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation. The programme will include exhibitions such as “Chitramaya Udupi”, a collection of visual art works, a memorial book stall dedicated to writer Ramdas, and displays of mural artworks by Nityananda Nayak.

Several achievers from different fields including Tilakanath Manjeshwar, Gopal Bhat M, Vimala Chandrasekhar, Maravanthe Nagaraj Hebbar, K. Ranjan, Harishchandra, A. R. Prabhakar Poojary, Vighneshwara Adiga, P. M. Venugopal Hebbar, Srikanth Bhat, and Vidyalatha U. Shetty will be honoured with awards.

Around 50 students who scored full marks in Kannada in SSLC and PUC examinations will also be felicitated during the event.

The programme includes a multi-genre poetry session at 12 noon, cultural dance performances at 1:15 pm, and a humour segment titled “Aptamitrara Kachaguli”. A face-to-face interaction with the conference president will be held at 3:35 pm.

The valedictory session at 4:30 pm will feature Dr. Gananaath Shetty Ekkar as chief speaker, followed by felicitation of 23 achievers and five organisations. The event will conclude in the evening with a children’s drama performance directed by Rajesh Bhatt Paniyadi.

Organisers said the event aims to promote Kannada literature, culture, and young talent in the region.
