Kalaburagi Collector honours SSLC student success

District Collector Fauzia Tarannum felicitated a government school student who achieved high marks in the SSLC examination despite facing extreme poverty and surviving through begging, officials said.

The student, Sujatha Bheemasha Gollar, a Class 10 student of Government Public School in Madan Hipparga of Aland taluk, scored 529 out of 625 marks, securing 84.64% in the Karnataka SSLC examinations. Her achievement has drawn widespread appreciation for her resilience and determination in the face of difficult living conditions.

A media report highlighting Sujatha’s story was earlier published, which came to the attention of the District Collector. Moved by her background and academic performance, Fauzia Tarannum invited the student to her office for a felicitation ceremony.

During the interaction, the Collector congratulated Sujatha and praised her hard work and perseverance. She also presented the student with essential educational materials, including notebooks, a school bag, and pens, to support her continued studies.

Officials said the Collector encouraged Sujatha to pursue higher education and assured her of support for her academic journey. She expressed confidence that the student’s achievement would inspire other children from underprivileged backgrounds to focus on education despite hardships.

Teachers and local residents also appreciated Sujatha’s performance, noting that her success reflects strong willpower and dedication. The incident has been widely shared as an example of how determination and access to education can transform lives, even in the most challenging circumstances.
