Shivamogga
Shivamogga district police personnel must prioritise their health while working under constant stress, said Nikhil B. while inaugurating a health awareness and training programme organised jointly by a private hospital and the district police department.
He said officers above 53 years of age should undergo regular health check-ups, adding that organs such as the kidney play a crucial role in maintaining overall body function. The programme was specifically designed for Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, and Armed Reserve Sub-Inspectors in this age group.
The workshop included free medical check-ups, sessions on post-retirement lifestyle management, yoga practice, healthy diet habits, and guidance on using pension benefits effectively. Experts also delivered lectures on maintaining physical and mental well-being after retirement.
Medical professionals, including urologists and dieticians, participated in the programme. Dr. Chandrashekhar spoke about kidney health and preventive care, while nutrition experts highlighted the importance of balanced diets for long-term wellness.
Senior police officials such as Additional SP A.G. Kariyappa and DySP Babu Anjanappa were also present. Wellness experts and yoga instructors demonstrated stress-relief techniques and daily exercise routines aimed at improving physical fitness among police personnel.
The SP emphasised that police work involves high pressure and irregular schedules, making preventive healthcare essential. He encouraged officers to adopt healthier lifestyles, including regular exercise, yoga, and proper nutrition.
The programme concluded with interactive sessions where officers shared concerns related to work stress and aging-related health issues, with experts providing guidance on managing them effectively.
