New star debuts in mystical horror film

The first look of Jovika Vijayakumar in the upcoming film Agadha has sent ripples through the film industry. As the granddaughter of the legendary late actress Manjula, Jovika’s entry into cinema carries a heavy emotional legacy and high expectations from fans across South India.

The newly released poster introduces Jovika as Harini, a character shrouded in mystery and intensity. Set against a dark, rain-soaked ancient backdrop, the young actress displays a striking gaze that balances innocence with a hidden strength. This debut marks a full-circle moment for veteran director M. S. Raju; decades ago, he introduced Jovika’s mother, Vanitha Vijayakumar, and is now launching the third generation of this famous film family.

Agadha represents a bold creative shift for Raju, who is venturing into the mystical horror genre. The ambitious project has already completed an extensive 85-day shooting schedule and is currently in the post-production phase. Producers revealed that the movie will feature nearly 45 minutes of high-end visual effects to bring its supernatural world to life.

Designed as a pan-Indian release, the film is being produced simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. With a supporting cast including Shravan Reddy and Sai Kamakshi Bhaskarla, the movie is positioning itself as a major theatrical event. For Jovika, the “intense appeal” of this first look suggests she is ready to carve out her own identity while honoring her grandmother’s iconic cinematic shadow.
