India’s organised live events sector is set for robust growth, projected to rise from Rs 145 billion in 2025 to Rs 196 billion by 2028, marking a steady 10% annual increase. The government has identified this segment as the fastest-growing within the media and entertainment industry, driven by rising demand for concerts, festivals, corporate events, and large public gatherings across urban and emerging markets.
To accelerate this growth, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has established the Live Events Development Cell (LEDC), chaired by the Secretary of the ministry. The body includes representatives from central ministries, state governments, industry associations, and key stakeholders, aiming to create a coordinated policy framework and streamline operational challenges faced by event organisers.
Officials highlighted that the live events industry plays a crucial role in employment generation, tourism promotion, and boosting allied sectors such as hospitality, travel, logistics, and infrastructure. The government envisions positioning India as a global hub for live events by 2030, with the sector expected to generate an additional 15–20 million jobs in the coming years.
A major reform initiative includes the rollout of a single-window clearance system through the India Cine Hub portal. This digital platform is designed to simplify permissions for organising events, ensuring faster, transparent, and efficient approvals. Wider adoption by states is expected to significantly improve ease of doing business and support sustained industry growth nationwide.
