Fast Justice Mission
Chikkaballapura
The first Special Lok Adalat has begun today across the country under the guidance of the Supreme Court, aimed at providing quick and amicable settlement of long-pending cases, officials said.
Senior Civil Judge and Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority B. Shilpa said the programme is being conducted as per directions of the Supreme Court and coordinated through video conferencing with the State Legal Services Authority.
She said that in Chikkaballapura district alone, 17 cases pending before the Supreme Court have been identified for possible settlement through conciliation. She urged concerned parties in these cases to approach the nearest taluk or district mediation centres for settlement without travelling to Delhi.
Officials said the Special Lok Adalat system provides a golden opportunity for eligible cases to be resolved through mutual agreement. The process is part of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, which allows disputes to be settled outside regular court proceedings through mediation and compromise.
Authorities explained that decisions taken in Lok Adalats carry the same legal validity as civil court judgments. The main aim is to reduce the burden of pending cases, ensure faster justice, and provide affordable legal solutions to citizens.
The system mainly covers civil disputes such as bank loan issues, motor accident claims, and family-related cases, encouraging parties to resolve matters through dialogue instead of lengthy trials.
Officials said this initiative helps people avoid years of waiting for justice and promotes a single-day resolution mechanism in suitable cases.
Court officials and media representatives were present during the programme. Authorities expressed hope that Special Lok Adalats will strengthen the justice delivery system by making it faster, simpler, and more accessible to the public across the country.
