Ramappa urged faster scheme implementation, highlighting welfare programs like Ganga Kalyan, self-employment, entrepreneurship, and livestock development initiatives
Chitradurga
Karnataka Bhovi Development Corporation Chairman M. Ramappa has directed officials to ensure that CIBIL scores or technical issues do not prevent eligible beneficiaries from receiving government scheme benefits. He stressed that welfare measures must reach deserving people without delay.
Speaking after visiting the district Bhovi Development Corporation office in Chitradurga, he reviewed progress and held discussions with officials. He said several schemes aimed at economic empowerment of poor communities are being implemented, and beneficiaries should not be misled due to banking complications like credit scores.
Ramappa said he has already instructed district authorities to speed up implementation of schemes without focusing too much on security or technical barriers. He added that along with the five guarantee schemes of the state government, the corporation is implementing six major programs, including Ganga Kalyan, Self Employment Direct Credit, Entrepreneurship Development, Self Reliance Chariot and dairy related activities such as sheep, goat and cattle rearing.
He emphasized that all pending works under the Ganga Kalyan scheme should be completed by the end of May, as the rainy season could delay fieldwork. Clear instructions have been given to officials across the state to complete borewell-related works on priority.
The Chairman said the corporation is committed to improving the economic condition of the Bhovi community. Skill development programmes like tailoring training are being conducted to promote self employment. A 75 day training workshop will begin in Mysuru on May 4 for men and women aged between 20 and 45. Free meals will be provided, and sewing machines will be given to those who complete the training successfully.
He also said similar training will begin in Challakere soon, and a special two day workshop is planned in Bagalkote district in May. In a new initiative, the corporation plans to provide tractors instead of cars, and also supply construction equipment like steel centering materials and Ajax machines to support workers in the community.
Plans are underway to build permanent offices in several districts, with land already purchased in Kolar and Dharwad. Officials and community leaders were present during the visit and reviewed ongoing activities.
