ATF price cap at 25%: Airlines await fresh announcement

New Delhi

The government has capped the rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices at 25 percent to protect domestic airlines from global price shocks. The decision, taken with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, limited the increase to about Rs 15 per litre. This came after global concerns, including disruptions near the Strait of Hormuz, raised fears of a sharp spike. Airlines, including IndiGo, adjusted fares following the hike. Carriers now await the next price update, hoping for stability to manage costs and keep ticket prices affordable.
