Fire at Bidar private hospital:  patients evacuated safely

Bidar

A fire broke out at Guru Nanak Hospital on Wednesday, reportedly due to a short circuit, causing panic among patients, attendants, and hospital staff in the heart of the city.

According to initial reports, smoke quickly spread in parts of the hospital building while several patients were undergoing treatment. On noticing the fire, hospital authorities and staff acted swiftly to evacuate patients from affected areas and shift them to safer locations within the premises.

Fire and emergency services were immediately alerted and two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters worked to bring the situation under control and successfully doused the flames after a brief operation, preventing the fire from spreading further inside the hospital.

As a precautionary measure, more than 15 patients were shifted to the district government hospital for continued medical care. Officials confirmed that all patients were safely evacuated and no casualties or serious injuries have been reported so far.

Authorities suspect a short circuit as the cause of the fire, though a detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact reason. The extent of property damage is yet to be assessed.

The incident has raised concerns about fire safety standards in private hospitals, particularly in crowded urban areas. Officials are expected to carry out inspections of healthcare facilities in the district to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Hospital management and emergency response teams have been appreciated for their quick action, which helped avert a major tragedy.
