Udupi
District fire officials in Udupi have clarified that there was no delay in responding to a blaze at a commercial building near the city bus stand. They said the Udupi fire station has only one water tender, which was already engaged in another fire incident when the call was received. The vehicle was immediately diverted and rushed to the site. Fire personnel entered the burning building and worked under dangerous conditions to control the flames. They managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby shops, bikes, and a mall. Officials added that additional fire tenders from Malpe and other stations were also engaged elsewhere at the time, but efforts ensured major damage was avoided.
