SYS Model Marriage Campaign concluding meet on Puttur

Puttur

The SYS Model Marriage Campaign organised by the Sunni Yuvajana Sangham (SYS) Karnataka is set to conclude with a grand sammelan in Puttur on May 2.

The campaign was initiated to promote awareness about simple, affordable, and socially responsible marriage practices, aiming to reduce financial burden on families and encourage community participation.

Organisers said the initiative has received positive response across various districts, with many families participating in counselling sessions, guidance programmes, and group discussions related to marriage planning.

The concluding convention in Puttur is expected to bring together community leaders, scholars, and participants, and will feature speeches on social reform, family values, and financial discipline in marriage.

Speakers are also likely to emphasise the importance of education, employment, and mutual understanding in building strong family systems and reducing unnecessary expenditure in weddings.

Organisers have invited the public to participate in large numbers and make the concluding event a meaningful platform for dialogue and social awareness in the region.

Leaders of SYS said the model marriage campaign is part of a broader effort to promote social awareness and reduce economic pressure associated with weddings, especially among lower and middle-income families in coastal Karnataka. Organisers added that similar initiatives will continue in the future to strengthen community support systems and encourage simpler, more meaningful wedding practices aligned with social harmony. They expressed hope that the concluding conference would inspire long-term behavioural change and foster unity within the community. Public response has been encouraging so far across several participating regions in Puttur organisers said today in the ongoing programme.
