Pradhan acts to solve textbook shortage

Directs faster production

NEW DELHI

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan took decisive action to ensure every student has the books they need for the new school year.

During a high-level meeting, the Minister reviewed the printing and distribution of NCERT textbooks to prevent delays that often trouble families during the busy enrollment season.

The Minister met with top education officials to check current stock levels across all states and union territories. A major focus of the meeting was reaching students in rural areas, where getting physical books can sometimes be a challenge. Pradhan made it clear that no child should suffer in their studies due to a lack of materials. He ordered officials to strengthen supply chains and increase printing speeds to stay ahead of the high demand from schools.

To help students who are still waiting for their physical copies, the Minister highlighted the “e-Pathshala” platform. This digital service allows students to download and read their textbooks online immediately, ensuring that learning continues without a break. By using this digital bridge, the government hopes to support classrooms while the final shipments of paper books are delivered.

This review comes as a relief to many parents and teachers who worry about shortages at the start of the term. By focusing on “last-mile delivery”, getting the books directly into the hands of the students, Minister Pradhan aims to make this academic session smooth and stress-free for millions of young learners across the country.
