Former BARC Director Anil Kakodkar said nuclear power will be central to India’s clean energy future. He noted that while solar and wind energy are important, their limits make nuclear energy necessary for stable power supply. Kakodkar said India must increase energy use to match developed nations and meet future growth needs. He highlighted India’s strong thorium reserves and ongoing development of advanced reactors, including the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor. He added that India aims for major nuclear expansion to support clean energy goals and long-term development, helping the country achieve its vision of becoming developed by 2047.
