Indian forces train African troops in urban combat

Abidjan

Indian Special Forces are mentoring African troops in urban combat at Exercise Flintlock 2026 in Ivory Coast. They are training Guinean soldiers in close-quarters battle, including breaching and clearing buildings during high-risk missions. The exercise involves over 30 countries and around 1,500 personnel, aiming to improve counterterrorism skills and coordination. Officials said the drills help strengthen cooperation and readiness among partner nations. The annual exercise, led by US Africa Command, focuses on tackling security challenges across the region. Indian forces are playing a key role in sharing expertise and building stronger international defence partnerships.
