Egan Gowda Rebukes Basavaraj Korwara Over Statements on Vinay Kulkarni

Dharwad
In Dharwad, political tensions escalated as Egan Gowda strongly criticized Basavaraj Korwara for making what he termed misleading statements against MLA Vinay Kulkarni. Gowda urged Korwara to understand the facts before speaking and warned against spreading false narratives for publicity.
Egan Gowda expressed sharp disapproval of Basavaraj Korwara’s recent remarks targeting MLA Vinay Kulkarni, stating that such statements were far removed from reality and appeared to be aimed at gaining media attention. He cautioned Korwara to refrain from making baseless claims and instead focus on understanding the truth of the matter.

Addressing the recent silent march held in support of Vinay Kulkarni, Gowda clarified that the demonstration was not directed against the judiciary. He explained that the march was a form of protest against those who allegedly attempted to divert the direction of the investigation. According to him, the intent behind the march was clear and should not be misinterpreted. He also emphasized that if any action taken during the protest was illegal, the police and legal systems were fully empowered to respond accordingly.

Gowda further referred to the investigation into the murder of Yogesh Gowda, noting that a ‘B’ report had been submitted by the police. He pointed out that when the victim’s family approached higher courts, including the High Court and the Supreme Court, both dismissed the petitions, upholding the police investigation and stating there was no need to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He questioned the earlier decision of the then BJP government to hand over the case to the CBI, suggesting that it may have been politically motivated. Gowda maintained that they have already filed an appeal in accordance with legal procedures and would continue to pursue the matter through appropriate channels.

Highlighting the constitutional framework governing the disqualification of an MLA, Gowda stated that such matters should be handled through proper legal mechanisms rather than public speculation. He accused Korwara of attempting to mislead people and urged him to engage in a lawful fight if he had genuine concerns.

Reaffirming faith in the judiciary, Gowda concluded by expressing confidence that the truth would ultimately prevail and called on Korwara to refrain from what he described as irresponsible and misleading rhetoric.
