Vijayanagar
The district is facing rising heat every day, with temperatures touching record highs. To protect people from heat-related illness, the health department has started special heat stroke treatment centres across Vijayanagar district.
According to officials, a total of 81 special beds have been arranged in district and taluk hospitals, including Hospet, for emergency care of heat stroke patients. District Health Officer Dr. Vinay said that patients suffering from dehydration, vomiting, nausea, and dizziness will be treated separately in these centres.
He also urged people not to ignore the heat and said medical teams are ready to handle emergencies. ORS solution, IV fluids, and cooling systems have been kept ready in all centres. Authorities have advised residents to drink plenty of water, stay hydrated even without thirst, and avoid stepping out between 12 noon and 4 pm when the sun is strongest.
People have been asked to seek immediate medical attention if they experience severe headache, fatigue, or vomiting, and to take care of children and elderly persons during the heatwave. The health department has appealed to the public to follow safety guidelines as temperatures are expected to rise further in the coming days across the district.
Officials said all primary health centres in the district have also stocked essential medicines and are fully prepared to respond quickly to any heat-related health emergency cases if needed immediately.
