In a strong display of technical knowledge and quick thinking, students from the Mangaluru Institute of Engineering & Technology (MITE) emerged victorious in the Mangaluru regional finals of the 17th edition of TCS TechBytes, an initiative by Tata Consultancy Services and Board for IT Education Standards (BITES). The event, aimed at fostering innovation among engineering students and improving problem-solving and lateral thinking skills across Karnataka, highlighted strong participation from multiple institutions. The runner-up position was secured by students of NMAM Institute of Technology.
The competition saw fast-paced quiz rounds conducted at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, beginning with a preliminary written test followed by interactive segments assessing technological aptitude and lateral thinking abilities. Top six teams were shortlisted from an initial screening round conducted at Sahyadri College, ensuring competitive participation from across the region. The event was graced by principal Dr S.S. Injaganeri as chief guest.
The winners, Sushantha VN and Shubham Dadhick from MITE, will represent Mangaluru at the state finals in Bengaluru, scheduled for May 5, 2026. The runner-up team from NMAM Institute of Technology included Sujnan D Devadiga and Aditya Bhat K. Officials including Sunil Deshpande and Prof S Sadagopan confirmed the announcement in a release.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for the institution, strengthening its reputation in technical competitions at the regional level. The winners now look ahead to the state-level challenge, where they will compete against top teams from across Karnataka, further testing their technical expertise and analytical abilities.
