Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni has approached the Karnataka High Court challenging the life imprisonment sentence awarded to him in connection with the murder of Yogish Gowda. The appeal marks a significant legal development following the recent verdict by a special court in Bengaluru. The case dates back to 2016, when Yogish Gowda, a Zilla Panchayat member from Dharwad, was murdered in a shocking incident that drew widespread attention across Karnataka. After years of investigation and trial, the Special Court for MPs/MLAs Bengaluru recently delivered its judgment, convicting Vinay Kulkarni along with 15 other accused. The court sentenced all 16 individuals to life imprisonment and also imposed fines.
