Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi said that the government’s announcement of internal reservation is a historic decision. He said the decision was taken in a special cabinet meeting with participation of ministers and community representatives. He added that all communities have welcomed the move and it was taken unanimously without disagreement.
Reacting to BJP criticism, he said opposition parties often find faults in government decisions for political reasons. But he said there is strong public support for the internal reservation policy. He also said the opposition is making such statements to survive politically. On Congress leadership issues, Jarkiholi said the party high command will take a final decision soon. He clarified that decisions have already been made and will be implemented at the right time.
Speaking about Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar’s Delhi visit, he said it was related to administrative work. He said such visits should not be given political meaning. The minister reiterated that internal reservation will help ensure social justice and balanced representation among communities in the state. He said the government is committed to implementing welfare measures in a transparent manner. He appealed to people to support such decisions taken for social harmony and equality.
Jarkiholi said the state government will continue to address long pending demands of various communities through dialogue and consensus based governance model. He urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and cooperate with the government for effective implementation of policies aimed at inclusive development across Karnataka.
