Delegation thanks CM for historic internal quota

Bengaluru
A delegation led by Excise Minister RB Timmapur met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru to express gratitude for implementing internal reservation, a long-pending demand of several communities.

The move has been described as a historic decision aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of benefits.
The delegation, comprising hundreds of leaders from Dalit Left communities, met the Chief Minister at his official residence, Kaveri Residence. During the meeting, members of the group conveyed their appreciation by offering sweets and thanking the Chief Minister for fulfilling a demand that had remained unresolved for decades.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister R. B. Timmapur highlighted that the struggle for internal reservation had spanned nearly 30 to 40 years. He noted that several previous governments and chief ministers had been unable to address the issue effectively. According to him, the current administration under Siddaramaiah succeeded by building consensus across communities and within the cabinet.

Timmapur stated that the Chief Minister took an inclusive approach, ensuring that all sections of society were consulted before arriving at a decision. He also emphasized that the cabinet approved the measure unanimously, reflecting a collective commitment to social justice and equitable representation.

Leaders from the delegation expressed that the decision would significantly benefit their communities by ensuring fair access to opportunities in education and employment. They described the move as a milestone that would improve socio-economic conditions and provide long-term empowerment.

The minister further remarked that the community would remember Siddaramaiah’s contribution for years to come and remain grateful for addressing their longstanding concerns. He added that the decision has instilled a sense of trust and recognition among marginalized groups who have historically sought equitable treatment.

The implementation of internal reservation is expected to have a far-reaching impact across Karnataka, reinforcing the government’s focus on inclusive development and social equity.
