BJP Mahila Morcha protests Congress over reservation bill

Raichur

Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest in Raichur against the Congress party, accusing it of opposing the women’s reservation bill and delaying its implementation.

The protestors gathered in the city and raised slogans condemning what they described as the Congress party’s contradictory stand on women’s empowerment. They alleged that while the party publicly supports gender equality, its actions in the legislative process do not reflect the same commitment.

Speaking during the demonstration, women leaders said that the opposition to the reservation bill in Parliament has delayed meaningful political representation for women. They demanded that the legislation be implemented without further delay to ensure adequate participation of women in decision-making bodies.

The activists also argued that women’s reservation is essential for strengthening democracy and achieving balanced representation across all levels of governance. They stressed that prolonged political debates should not come in the way of empowering women.

Protesters warned that continued delay in implementing the reservation provisions could lead to stronger agitations in the future. They urged the government to take immediate steps to operationalise the law and ensure fair opportunities for women in politics.

The demonstration concluded peacefully after participants reiterated their demand for swift implementation of the women’s reservation framework. Organisers stated that they would continue their campaign until the bill is fully enforced and women receive their rightful share in political representation.

Party workers and supporters participated in large numbers, making the protest a significant show of strength in the region.
