Vijayapura police crack 30 cases, recover ₹1.60 crore

In a major breakthrough, the Vijayapura city sub-division police have successfully cracked 30 theft cases and recovered stolen property worth ₹1.60 crore, Superintendent of Police Lakshman Nimbargi said.

Addressing a press conference, the SP said special investigation teams were formed to detect cases registered under Gandhi Chowk, Gol Gumbaz, APMC, Adarsh Nagar, and Jala Nagar police stations. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Additional SP Ramnagouda Hatti and DSP Nagaraj.

At Gandhi Chowk police station, six accused were arrested in seven cases, leading to the recovery of gold ornaments, two-wheelers, cash, and other valuables worth ₹27.25 lakh. At Gol Gumbaz station, eight accused were arrested in seven cases, with seizures worth ₹33.02 lakh, including gold ornaments and a car.

At APMC police station, three accused were arrested in two cases, and stolen property worth ₹19.20 lakh was recovered. At Adarsh Nagar police station, 21 accused were arrested in 10 cases, resulting in recovery of gold, vehicles, and cash worth ₹74.55 lakh. At Jala Nagar station, five accused were arrested in four cases, with property worth ₹6.30 lakh seized.

Police officials said the operation covered cases registered in both 2025 and 2026, with a total of 17 older cases and 13 recent cases solved. Across all operations, 43 accused were arrested.

The total recovered property includes gold, silver, cash, and vehicles valued at ₹1,60,32,000. Senior police officers praised the coordinated efforts of the teams, noting that the swift investigation and recovery highlight improved policing efficiency and strong inter-station coordination in tackling organised theft networks in Vijayapura.
