AIDYO to protest in Raichur over salary delays

Raichur salary protest

Raichur

The district unit of the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (All India Democratic Youth Organisation) has announced a protest on April 28 at Tipu Sultan Park, demanding the release of 10 months of pending salaries for guest teachers and ayahs working under the Akshara Aavishkara scheme of the Kalyana Karnataka Region Development Board (KKRDB).

Addressing a press conference, district president Channabasava Janekal said guest teachers engaged in LKG, UKG, and bilingual classes in government schools are facing severe financial hardship due to the prolonged delay in salary payments. He alleged that repeated representations made to Block Education Officers, Deputy Directors, the Deputy Commissioner, and the KKRDB Chairman have not yielded any action.

He added that teachers from rural areas continue to travel long distances to schools to teach but are struggling without timely remuneration. Janekal also pointed out that while the government has proposed using funds allocated to MLAs through KKRDB for paying honorariums, legislators have cited a lack of development funds, leading to administrative confusion and delays.

The organisation will also demand an increase of ₹2,000 in the monthly honorarium for guest teachers, along with immediate clearance of all pending dues.

AIDYO members including Dattu Swami, Saroja Gonwar, Eeresh, and Mallikarjun Ramulu were present at the briefing. The group said the protest aims to highlight what it described as systemic neglect of contractual teaching staff in the region and push authorities for urgent action.
