Modi announces 10-point guarantee for Bengal women

The announcement comes as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s campaign strategy to strengthen its outreach among women voters in the state.

Speaking at a public gathering in Krishnanagar, the Prime Minister sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress and the INDIA bloc, accusing them of obstructing the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament.

He asserted that those who opposed measures aimed at empowering women would face consequences in the ongoing elections.

Highlighting the importance of women’s safety and economic independence, Modi said that the proposed guarantees would be implemented on the ground if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in West Bengal. He emphasized strict action against crimes targeting women, stating that perpetrators would be punished without delay. As part of strengthening law enforcement, he promised the establishment of women’s police stations in every block and increased recruitment of women into the police force.

The Prime Minister also announced direct financial assistance initiatives, including an annual transfer of Rs 36,000 to women’s bank accounts. In addition, financial support of Rs 50,000 would be provided to girls pursuing graduation, while pregnant women would receive Rs 21,000. To ensure better nutrition for children, an additional Rs 36,000 support package was also proposed.

Further outlining welfare measures, Modi said that schemes such as the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana would be strengthened to secure the future of daughters. Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, women would be eligible for loans of up to Rs 20 lakh to promote self-employment and entrepreneurship. He added that large numbers of women would be encouraged to become financially independent under the Lakhpati Didi initiative.

The Prime Minister also highlighted healthcare and housing benefits, stating that under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, women would receive free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Additionally, houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana would be registered in the name of women to ensure financial security and ownership rights.
