On Basava Jayanthi, Shri Rajeshwar Shivacharya Swamiji urged the public to embrace Basavanna’s ideals of equality, democracy, and “Work is Worship” to build a harmonious society.
BIDAR
Marking the auspicious occasion of Basava Jayanthi, Shri Rajeshwar Shivacharya Swamiji has called upon the public to embrace the timeless ideals of equality and social harmony. Speaking from Bidar, the Swamiji extended warm greetings to devotees worldwide, reminding them that the teachings of the 12th-century philosopher Basavanna remain more relevant than ever before.
Swamiji described Basavanna as a visionary leader who pioneered the concept of people-centric governance. He specifically highlighted the “Anubhava Mantapa” in Basava Kalyana, describing it as one of the world’s first democratic platforms. This unique spiritual assembly allowed men and women from every caste and community to sit together and engage in open dialogue, breaking down the rigid social barriers of the time.
The message also noted that Basavanna’s influence has reached the highest levels of global and national recognition. Swamiji pointed out that leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have praised Basavanna as a founding figure of democratic thought in India. This recognition shows that the philosopher’s dream of a fair society is respected far beyond the borders of Karnataka. Concluding his address, the Swamiji urged everyone to set aside their differences and work toward the common good. He reminded the faithful of the famous slogan, “Kayakave Kailasa,” which translates to “Work is Worship.” By treating daily labor as a divine duty and treating all humans as equals, Swamiji believes society can achieve the true peace that Basavanna envisioned centuries ago.
