Governor calls for moral values in technology

VIJAYAPURA

Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot emphasized that digital progress must be anchored in ethics during the 17th Convocation of Akkamahadevi Women’s University. Addressing graduates in Vijayapura, the Governor stated that while science and technology drive the modern era, true success requires a blend of innovation and social responsibility.

Gehlot praised the university as a “shining center” for female empowerment and spiritual consciousness. He reminded students that a degree is more than a certificate, it is a symbol of the discipline and perseverance needed to navigate today’s global challenges. As India strengthens its global footprint through initiatives like “Startup India” and “Digital India,” the Governor urged young women to lead these movements with integrity and compassion.

“Knowledge should be used for the welfare of society, not just personal gain,” he remarked, quoting ancient scriptures to highlight that women’s education is the bedrock of national progress. He noted that women are now excelling in fields ranging from space exploration to the armed forces. Concluding his speech, he encouraged the new graduates to dream big and play a proactive role in uplifting marginalized communities, ensuring that the country’s technological leap remains deeply human.
