DCM D K Shivakumar said the government has fulfilled its promise by giving jobs to family members of victims of the Chamarajanagar oxygen tragedy at the district hospital. He said seeing the smiles of bereaved families made the government work meaningful.
He spoke at the foundation stone laying and inauguration of projects to fill 110 lakes and other development works in Gundlupet taluk of Chamarajanagar district.
He said justice and promises made during the previous BJP government period regarding Covid deaths have been fulfilled by Congress governance. He mentioned that during Covid many lives were lost and compensation was given to families to support them.
He said the government has announced Rs 1000 crore for Gundlupet development and Rs 475 crore to fill 110 lakes. He listed welfare schemes like free bus travel for women Rs 2000 monthly aid 10 kg rice free electricity up to 200 units and unemployment allowance.
He said the government spends about one lakh crore rupees every year on welfare and development programmes. He also said the Mekedatu project detailed project report will be submitted to the Centre within ten days for approval.
He added that the Congress government is working to ensure water security social justice and development across Karnataka. He criticised previous governments and said Congress schemes are inclusive and benefit all eligible people without discrimination.
He said leaders and MLAs in the region are working together to strengthen development and public welfare programmes. He concluded by saying the government aims to build a hunger free poverty free and equal society with public support.
He recalled campaigning during the Bharat Jodo Yatra with Rahul Gandhi and said promises made to Gundlupet voters are being fulfilled step by step.
He praised local leadership and said development works will continue with focus on irrigation roads and livelihoods.
He said the government has already started work offices and identified land for implementing the Mekedatu project after central approval and urged opposition leaders to support constructive development instead of criticism. He expressed confidence that Karnataka will progress under Congress governance with public cooperation and blessings from people.
