District administration has issued a strict warning to officers and staff after complaints of poor discipline and late attendance in government offices. During an emergency review meeting, District Magistrate Dr. Suresh B. Itnal said officers must reach office on time and set an example for staff.
He expressed concern that officers should not need reminders to arrive on time and asked them to improve their discipline immediately. He also checked attendance records and found several officers absent during morning inspection, which he called unacceptable for public service. The district administration noted that revised working hours from 8 am to 1.30 pm are already in place due to summer heat.
Despite this relaxation, reports showed that some employees were still missing from offices, prompting sudden inspections by officials. The District Magistrate announced weekly surprise visits to government departments and warned of strict action if negligence continues. He ordered all offices to maintain proper movement registers so that officials’ presence and duty hours can be tracked easily. Serious complaints were also received against medical officers, and the administration instructed the health department to improve monitoring systems.
The meeting highlighted poor cleanliness in offices, including posters placed improperly and lack of basic hygiene in corridors. Officials were directed to conduct monthly cleanliness drives and ensure orderly display of notices on designated boards only. Senior officers including police and district planning officials attended the meeting and supported the call for strict discipline. Authorities said repeated violations would lead to notices and possible disciplinary action against negligent employees.
The district leadership emphasized that public service depends on punctuality, responsibility, and respect for government duty. Citizens expect timely services, and officers must respond with seriousness. The administration will continue surprise inspections to ensure improvement. Departments have been told to correct mistakes immediately and report compliance regularly. The goal is to rebuild public trust through discipline and accountability in every office.
Officials also said that better coordination among departments will improve service delivery and ensure that citizens do not face delays in essential government work going forward across the district in future consistently.
