Mangaluru

The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has forecast a rise in temperatures across Dakshina Kannada and parts of Udupi district between April 21 and 23, warning of potentially severe heat conditions in several regions.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre has issued a weather advisory predicting a significant increase in temperature across multiple areas of Dakshina Kannada district, including Mangaluru, Ullal, Bantwal, Moodbidri, Puttur, and Kadaba. The alert also extends to parts of Udupi district, specifically Brahmavar, Hebri, and Karkala taluks.

According to officials, temperatures in several parts of the region have already crossed 37°C over the past few days, indicating the onset of intense summer conditions. The forecast suggests that temperatures are likely to rise further during the April 21 to 23 period, increasing discomfort levels for residents and posing potential health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.

The monitoring centre has cautioned that the combination of rising temperatures and humidity could lead to severe heat conditions in these areas. Prolonged exposure to such weather may result in heat-related illnesses, including dehydration, heat exhaustion, and in extreme cases, heatstroke.

Authorities have advised residents to take necessary precautions, such as staying hydrated, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and wearing light, breathable clothing. People have also been urged to limit strenuous outdoor activities and ensure adequate rest during the hottest parts of the day.

The advisory serves as an early warning to help local administrations and the public prepare for the rising heat levels. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and may issue further updates depending on weather developments in the coming days.
