Chikkamagaluru

In a significant move to enhance the safety of women and children, the Chikkamagaluru District Police have deployed their dedicated ‘Akka Pade’ squad across key public locations in the city, focusing on awareness and preventive policing.
The Chikkamagaluru District Police have intensified efforts to create a safer environment by activating the ‘Akka Pade’ team for regular patrols in prominent public areas. The initiative is aimed at ensuring the safety and well-being of women and children while reinforcing confidence among citizens through a visible and approachable police presence.

The specially designated women’s safety squad conducted patrols in busy locations such as markets, bus stands, parks, and other crowded public spaces. Officials stated that the presence of the ‘Akka Pade’ team acts as a deterrent to potential offenders and helps in maintaining a sense of security, especially during peak hours.

During the patrols, the team actively engaged with the public, spreading awareness about essential emergency helplines. Citizens were informed about the women-specific helpline number 181 and the general emergency number 112, encouraging them to seek immediate assistance whenever required. The officers also educated women and young girls about their rights and the importance of reporting incidents without hesitation.

In addition to safety awareness, the squad highlighted preventive measures against cybercrimes, which have been on the rise in recent years. They advised the public to exercise caution while sharing personal information online and to remain alert against fraudulent calls and messages. Awareness was also created regarding chain snatching incidents, with citizens being urged to stay vigilant in crowded places and avoid displaying valuables unnecessarily.

Police officials emphasized that such initiatives are part of a broader strategy to strengthen community policing and ensure a secure atmosphere for all residents. The ‘Akka Pade’ squad remains on alert and ready to respond swiftly to any distress calls. Authorities have assured that these patrols will continue regularly, further enhancing safety measures and encouraging public cooperation in maintaining law and order.
