New Delhi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a strong attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of being influenced by United States leadership and interfering in Tamil Nadu politics.
Speaking at an election rally, Gandhi criticised the Prime Minister’s behaviour in Parliament during discussions on the delimitation bill. He claimed that Modi appeared lacking confidence and avoided facing the Opposition during the session. Gandhi alleged that this was due to external influence from the United States.
He further claimed that India’s interests had been compromised through agreements with the US. According to him, key sectors such as energy, data security, farmers and small industries had been weakened due to government decisions. He accused the Centre of failing to protect national interests.
Escalating his remarks, Gandhi made personal allegations linking the Prime Minister with former US President Donald Trump. He claimed that Modi was being fully controlled by Trump and suggested that such influence affected India’s leadership decisions. Gandhi also alleged that this control was linked to sensitive financial information and connections involving business interests.
Turning his focus to Tamil Nadu, the Congress leader accused the Prime Minister of trying to influence state politics. He alleged that the Centre was attempting to bring the AIADMK to power in the state by exerting control similar to what he claimed existed at the national level.
Gandhi said such actions could harm democratic processes and weaken the independence of state leadership. He urged people to remain aware of political developments and protect democratic values.
The remarks have intensified political tensions, with the ruling party expected to respond strongly to the allegations. The statements have added to the ongoing political debate ahead of upcoming elections.
