The government recognised over 55,200 startups in 2025-26, the highest yearly rise since Startup India began. Total recognised startups have crossed 2.23 lakh, creating more than 23.36 lakh direct jobs. Growth remained strong, with startups rising sharply and employment increasing across sectors. Leading hubs include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Gujarat. Government schemes offering funding and credit support helped expansion at different stages. Startups also boosted innovation, filing thousands of patents during the year. Officials said efforts will continue to improve funding access, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen India’s position as a global startup hub
