Indian Railways has nearly completed electrification, covering 99.6 per cent of its broad gauge network. It runs around 25,000 trains daily and carried 741 crore passengers in 2025–26. Revenue reached about Rs 80,000 crore, while freight hit a record 1,670 million tonnes. Electrification has grown sharply since 2014, saving fuel and cutting costs. New safety systems and better communication tools are improving travel. Faster tracks now allow higher speeds. Modern trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat are gaining popularity. Officials say these steps are making rail travel quicker, safer, and more affordable for millions of passengers across India.
