Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has praised the refining and processing capabilities of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s Rajasthan Refinery, highlighting it as a key asset in strengthening India’s energy infrastructure.
The minister noted that the refinery represents a major step forward in enhancing domestic refining capacity and supporting the country’s growing fuel demand. He emphasised that such projects are crucial for improving energy security and reducing dependence on imports.
The Rajasthan Refinery, being developed as one of the largest integrated refining and petrochemical complexes in the country, is expected to play a significant role in boosting industrial growth in the region. It is designed to produce a wide range of petroleum products and petrochemicals to meet both domestic and industrial requirements.
Officials said the project aligns with India’s broader strategy to expand refining capacity while integrating advanced processing technologies. This is expected to improve efficiency, output quality, and environmental performance.
The refinery is also expected to generate significant employment opportunities during both construction and operational phases, contributing to local economic development. Ancillary industries and supply chains are likely to benefit as well.
Minister Puri reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting large-scale energy infrastructure projects that enhance self-reliance in the petroleum sector. He added that modern refineries like the Rajasthan facility will help India meet future energy demands while maintaining global competitiveness.
