Ganapathy takes lead after strong second round

Port Louis

Veer Ganapathy produced another impressive performance to take a two-shot lead after Day 2 of the IGPL Invitational 2026 in Mauritius. The tournament, hosted by Leander Paes, is being held at the scenic Anahita Golf Course.

The 18-year-old golfer followed his opening round of 67 with a steady 69, finishing at 8-under after 36 holes. His strong finish, including key birdies on the 16th and 18th holes, helped him move ahead of overnight co-leader Sachin Baisoya.

Baisoya, who was level on the 17th hole, slipped with a bogey on the final hole, dropping to 6-under. The late swing allowed Ganapathy to claim sole leadership going into the final round.

Three players—Aryan Roopa Anand, Ridhima Dilawari, and Milind Soni—are tied for third place at 3-under, keeping the competition tight behind the leader.

In the team standings, RVR Delhi moved to the top spot, with Phoenix Hyderabad and Atri Mumbai close behind. The course has proven challenging, with only a few players managing to stay under par due to windy conditions and difficult greens.

Ganapathy credited his putting for the strong showing and said he hopes to convert this lead into his first professional win. With just one round remaining, all eyes will be on whether the young golfer can maintain his composure.

Meanwhile, experienced players like SSP Chawrasia and Gaganjeet Bhullar are outside the top 10, making the final round even more unpredictable.
