Allegations of substandard and corruption -ridden works in Jevargi and Yadrami taluks have triggered demands for a high-level investigation by farmer leaders.
District President of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene, Mahantagouda Nandihalli, has submitted a memorandum to Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister and district in-charge Priyank Kharge, seeking immediate action.
In the memorandum, he alleged that works carried out by Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited officials in the two taluks were of poor quality and involved corruption. He stated that a preliminary inquiry had already confirmed substandard work worth ₹55 lakh. He further claimed that when officials arrived to conduct a second-phase investigation, they were allegedly threatened by miscreants and faced non-cooperation from KRIDL officials. Due to this, the inquiry officers reportedly sought to withdraw from the investigation. Nandihalli warned that if no action is taken within eight days, the organization will launch a dharna protest in front of the minister’s office. The farmers’ body has urged the government to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the matter.
