Singapore authorities have sentenced an Indian-origin wealth planning manager to seven weeks in jail for forging bank statements to support insurance policy sales to Japanese clients. Vijendren Tanapal, 38, committed the offences while working at DBS Bank, selling Manulife insurance products. He pleaded guilty to two charges, with several other similar offences considered during sentencing in Singapore. Police began investigating after DBS flagged forged documents linked to multiple Japanese clients, leading to court proceedings years later. The court noted there was no discernible financial loss to DBS, and the accused is no longer employed by the bank, with bail set at SGD15,000 and sentencing delayed until July 31 date fixed.
