Storm damages poles, causes power cut

Mandya

A heavy storm caused damage in Holalu village of Mandya taluk, leading to the fall of several electric poles and disruption of power supply. Strong winds and rain uprooted a coconut tree belonging to local resident Hadya Krishna, which fell across key roads in the area.

Around 10 to 15 electric poles were damaged on H.D. Choudaiah Alemaneya Road and Punyasree Industries Road, affecting electricity in the village. Large cut-outs of H.D. Kumaraswamy and C.S. Puttaraja were also destroyed due to the storm. The fallen coconut tree reportedly caused losses worth lakhs of rupees.

Officials confirmed that no loss of life was reported. However, power supply has been disrupted and is expected to be restored quickly.

Chescom officials and staff began repair work early Saturday morning and are working continuously to restore normalcy. Authorities have requested the public to cooperate during the repair process.
