Lecturer holds solo sit-in for world peace

Udupi

A Kannada lecturer and child rights activist, Ramanji, staged a one-man silent protest in Udupi demanding an end to global conflicts and restoration of peace. The protest was held near the Gandhi statue at the service bus stand clock tower.

Ramanji, associated with the international working children’s organisation “Namma Bhoomi” in Kundapur, sat from morning to evening holding placards that read “Stop war, save the environment.” He also carried a copy of Gandhi’s writings as part of his symbolic protest.

He said the ongoing war situations around the world over the past month had disturbed him deeply, prompting him to adopt a Gandhian-style silent sit-in. According to him, the protest aimed to create public awareness about human suffering and environmental destruction caused by conflicts.

Ramanji added that the initiative has received public support and he plans to expand the awareness campaign across the state in the coming days.
