Krishnamurthy challenged A. Manju for a public debate over scam allegations, defended MLA Balakrishna, and denied involvement in Manju’s 2023 electoral defeat
Magadi
Magadi Block Congress President Pujaripalya Krishnamurthy has issued a strong open challenge to former MLA A. Manju, asking him to come for a public debate with documents if he stands by his allegations against MLA H.C. Balakrishna.
Speaking at a press conference held at the MLA’s home office on Saturday, Krishnamurthy strongly criticized A. Manju, saying that baseless and misleading allegations were being made regarding issues such as a “₹600 crore scam” and the BDCC Bank case. He said a platform for open discussion will be arranged on April 25 at 11 am at Chakrabavi VSSN premises and invited Manju to present evidence there.
“If he believes in his claims, let him come with documents. If that date does not suit him, he can fix another time. We are ready for a full debate along with our leader Balakrishna,” he said. He added that there would be no backing away from the challenge and demanded accountability for public statements.
Commenting on the 2023 election results, Krishnamurthy said he had consistently worked for the party and denied any role in Manju’s defeat. He said internal discussions had taken place with senior leaders, but decisions were not properly acted upon by others involved.
He also reacted sharply to remarks made by rival local leaders, accusing them of spreading personal allegations and political propaganda. Without naming individuals directly in some cases, he alleged that certain leaders were trying to gain influence by targeting others unfairly.
Krishnamurthy warned that repeated false accusations would not be tolerated. “If such statements continue, we will be forced to reveal old records and facts,” he said, adding that he has always stood firm in political struggles and does not run away from confrontation.
The press conference saw the presence of several local leaders, including Magadi Development Authority President Tatavalu Prakash, former municipal member Shivakumar, Rahman, Belgumba Narasimhaiah, and others.
The exchange has further intensified local political tensions in Magadi, with both sides expected to escalate their arguments in the coming days.
