India’s young table tennis stars once again proved they are the powerhouse of the region, capturing a staggering 13 gold medals at the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships. The dominant performance has solidified India’s position as the undisputed leader in South Asian table tennis.
The championship, held in the scenic city of Shimla, carried high stakes as it also served as a critical qualifying event for the upcoming Asian Youth Championships. The highlight of the final day was the Under-19 boys’ singles final, which turned into an all-Indian showdown. In a display of high-speed reflexes and tactical skill, Priyanuj Bhattacharyya faced off against his teammate Punit Biswas. Bhattacharyya ultimately secured the gold medal with a hard-fought 3-1 victory, showcasing the incredible depth of talent currently rising through India’s national ranks.
