Intro

Allegations of irregular recruitment at Karnataka Central University have surfaced, with objections over appointments and calls for investigation

Serious allegations of irregularities have surfaced in the recruitment process at Karnataka Central University, Kadaganchi, on Aland Road, raising concerns over transparency in appointments. The issue involves the selection of a Public Relations Officer and Assistant Registrar, which has triggered calls for a detailed investigation.

Reports suggest that the executive council of the university recently approved the appointment of Srikanth Kusura, who is said to be a close associate of Legislative Council Chief Whip N. Ravikumar. Questions were raised after Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, a member of the executive committee, reportedly objected and sought clarity on why the appointment was made without proper consultation.

She has written to Vineet Joshi, Secretary of the Union Higher Education Department, demanding an impartial inquiry into the matter. Activist P. Nandakumar has also alleged that several appointments in the university are being influenced by individuals linked to political and ideological groups rather than academic merit.

He further claimed that candidates with higher scores in the selection process were ignored and that eligibility rules regarding qualifications and professional experience were not properly followed. The controversy has intensified political debate in the region, with demands for accountability and a transparent probe into all recent recruitment decisions at the university. Authorities are yet to issue an official clarification on the allegations.
