Al Ahly SC goalkeeper Mohamed El‑Shenawy has been banned for four matches after an incident involving a referee. The decision was announced by the Egyptian Pro League following Al Ahly’s 1–1 draw with Ceramica Cleopatra. Reports said El-Shenawy reacted angrily after a late penalty appeal was denied and struck the referee. He has also been fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds. The suspension will keep him out until the final stages of the league play-offs. Al Ahly currently sit third in the standings, trailing leaders Zamalek in a tight title race.
