Conmebol backs Infantino for possible fourth term

Asunción

South America’s football body CONMEBOL has officially supported Gianni Infantino for a possible fourth term as FIFA President. The decision was announced unanimously by the council this week, even though Infantino has not confirmed his candidacy for 2027–2031. CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez praised his efforts to grow global football. Infantino, who took charge in 2016 after Sepp Blatter, has expanded major tournaments, including the World Cup and Women’s World Cup. While his leadership has boosted the game worldwide, it has also faced criticism over scheduling and governance issues.
