A delegation from the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry visited the site of the proposed PM MITRA Mega Textile Park to review the progress of ongoing works, terming the project crucial for the industrial growth of the Kalyana Karnataka region. The inspection was led by KKCCI President Sharanabasappa M. Pappa and Secretary Shivraj V. Inginshetty. During the visit, the team assessed various infrastructure works being undertaken at the site.
Officials noted that the state government has initiated works worth nearly ₹100 crore through different departments. Among the key developments, construction of a 1.5-kilometre access road to the park has commenced. Additionally, a 280-metre-long barrage across the Bhima river is under construction, of which around 110 metres has already been completed. The remaining work is expected to be finished by the end of May or June.
While welcoming the commencement of works, the KKCCI delegation expressed concern over the delay in execution. The project, which was inaugurated on March 28, 2023, witnessed nearly three years of delay before work began. The delegation termed the delay unacceptable, emphasising that timely execution is critical for such large-scale infrastructure projects. The chamber stated that it has been consistently following up with both the state and central governments regarding the implementation of the project and has been in regular contact with the Union Textiles Ministry.
The PM MITRA Mega Textile Park is expected to significantly boost industrial development in the Kalyana Karnataka region and generate thousands of employment opportunities. Expressing optimism, the delegation urged authorities to accelerate the pace of work, ensure better coordination among departments, and complete the project within a fixed timeline. Those present during the inspection included Textile Sub-Committee President Anudeep Dandoti, Textile Park Struggle Committee members Mallikarjun Samrat, Babu, Sharanu, and Lakshmikant, along with Vishankar Jamadharkhani, Santosh Suresh Nandyal, Abhijit Padashetti, Vijay Gilla, and Jagadish Gajare.
