Karnataka Medical Education Minister Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil has expressed confidence in a Congress victory in Davanagere, citing strong public support for the party following his recent ground visits.
Speaking to the media, Patil said he has been touring Davanagere since March 31 and is set to conclude his visit soon. During this period, he interacted with residents across several wards and villages and observed a clear inclination of voters towards the Congress party.
According to him, the growing support is largely attributed to the development work and public outreach of senior leader Shamanur Shivashankarappa. “People are appreciating both the government initiatives and his personal contributions. There is visible trust among the, People and we are confident of securing victory,” he said.
Responding to remarks made by Union Minister H. D. Kumaraswamy regarding IPL tickets, Patil clarified that he has no personal interest in attending cricket matches. “Others may choose to attend if they wish; it is entirely an individual decision,” he added.
He further informed that Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan is expected to visit Davanagere soon, though he is currently engaged with official responsibilities in Kerala. Addressing concerns related to ticket distribution within the party, Patil stated that minor issues had arisen but have now been resolved amicably. He emphasised that the party is united and working cohesively towards the elections. Reiterating his optimism, Patil said the Congress party is well-positioned to win, backed by strong grassroots support and effective leadership in the region.
