Kalaburagi
The grand Rathotsava of Sharanabasaveshwara was celebrated with great devotion and splendour in Shahabad as part of the annual Sharanabasaveshwara Jatra Mahotsava. Thousands of devotees witnessed and participated in the traditional celebrations. Elaborate preparations were made at the temple premises from early morning. The chariot was beautifully decorated with flowers, fresh leaves, and colourful festoons. Special rituals including Rudrabhisheka, Panchamruta Abhisheka, and Sahasra Bilvarchane were performed to the deity.
In the afternoon, the traditional Nandikolu procession was held from Adavitatara Gaddige to the temple. By evening, a large number of devotees gathered and pulled the chariot with devotion, chanting slogans in praise of Sharanabasaveshwara Maharaj. Devotees expressed their faith by offering bananas and other items. A cultural programme featuring Geegi Pada performances was held at night, while Veerashaiva Yuvak Mandal arranged Dasoha (free food service) for the devotees.
Tight security arrangements were made by the local police to ensure the event passed off peacefully without any untoward incidents.
