Mysuru
Auto drivers in Mysuru are struggling as LPG gas for vehicles has become scarce, following disruptions caused by the ongoing war in the Middle East. Long queues of autos were seen at gas stations across the city, including Nazarabad, Vijayanagar, and J.K. Maidan, with some drivers waiting for hours.
Several gas stations have run out of stock, and no “available” boards were displayed. Many auto drivers were stranded on the roads, unable to refuel, while the price of LPG gas rose from ₹83 to ₹90 per liter, adding to their financial burden.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, auto drivers said, “Gas has not been supplied for the past two or three days. We have to stand in queues all day to get a refill. With daily rents, auto loans, and family expenses, it has become extremely hard to earn a living.”
Gas station owner Ramesh confirmed the shortage, stating, “Due to the war, LPG supply to Mysuru is irregular. Once stock arrives, we will provide it to vehicles. Prices have increased due to scarcity, but we hope supplies will normalize in the coming days.”
Experts say this problem is not limited to Mysuru but is being felt across the country. Auto drivers hope that regular LPG supply resumes soon, as the shortage is directly affecting their livelihood and the daily transport needs of citizens.
