A court in Shirsi has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his son-in-law over a minor dispute related to alcohol money. The accused, Venkataramana Ganapa Gowda, was also fined Rs 10,000. The incident happened on May 2, 2024, in Malali village, where he attacked Manjunatha Rama Gowda (40) with a wooden mallet, causing his death. Police said the crime was driven by anger and family issues. The court found him guilty after reviewing evidence and witness statements. It also ordered Rs 50,000 compensation to the victim’s wife and praised police for their investigation.
