Commercial LPG prices hiked by Rs 195.50

New Delhi:

Commercial LPG cylinder prices were increased by Rs 195.50, following a sharp rise in global oil prices driven by escalating West Asia tensions. The price of a 19-kg commercial cylinder in Delhi now stands at Rs 2,078.50, while Kolkata saw a higher hike of Rs 218.

Domestic cooking gas (14.2-kg cylinder) rates remain unchanged at Rs 913 in Delhi, providing relief to households. Commercial LPG, mainly used by industries and hotels, is deregulated and market-driven, accounting for less than 10% of total LPG consumption.

The price revision follows a 44% rise in the Saudi Contract Price, from $542 per metric tonne in March to $780 in April, due to supply disruptions. About 20–30% of global LPG supplies are affected by blockades in the Strait of Hormuz. The Ministry of Petroleum said commercial LPG prices are revised monthly based on market conditions.
